Cleary Bros have been engaged by Sydney Water to construct a new revetment wall at the Port Kembla sewage treatment plant at Red Point.
The new 220m long revetment wall will be constructed from rock supplied from Cleary Bros' Albion Park Quarry, with specialty blasting used to produce the large boulders required by this project. The new revetment wall replaces the existing dilapidated wall, which was significantly damaged during a major storm in 2016.
The project also involves the construction of a concrete wave return wall and remediation of the onsite chemical dosing building. Cleary Bros will be undertaking a broad landscaping program that will display the indigenous heritage of the area, and improve access for visitors and rock fishers.
Due to the environmental sensitivity of this coastal project, Cleary Bros have worked in close association with a range of government agencies to design and continuously refine a range of practical environmental measures to ensure environmental objectives and regulatory requirements are achieved.
